Frequently Asked Questions
The medical world is kind of wild - throw in the mental health world and things can get downright confusing and overwhelming. I created this page in hopes of answering questions before they're asked and create clarity around how Wellspring operates (because, let's be honest, we all do it differently).
What if we aren't a good fit?
Though the expectation is that sessions that are conducted are paid for, if you (or I) decide we are not a good fit, there are no hard feelings! Therapy is all about the relationship between therapist and client. I will provide some referrals of other clinics or clinicians you can check out.
How much do sessions cost?
Here's the breakdown...
Intake: $200 (individual or couple)
50 Min Session: $150
90 Min Individual Session: $200
90 Min Couple Session: $250

No-Show/Late Cancel Fee: $100
How does virtual therapy work?
Just like in-person therapy, whether we are via phone or video, I expect you to be in a confidential and safe location (meaning, alone). No one should be walking around the background or through your therapy session. I do the same on my end to allow full confidentiality.

You will receive a link from my portal 15 minutes prior to session if doing video. I will call your phone if we are doing a phone session.

You also need to be physically in the state of Wisconsin or Iowa.
How long does therapy take?
There is no satisfying answer to that - each person is different with different needs and goals. This means each person will differ in how often and how long they are seen.
Why don't you take insurance?
Wellspring is a passion project outside my normal 8-5. Because of this, my case load is quite small which doesn't make applying and credentialing with insurance companies possible.

Not taking insurance also allows for more flexibility around diagnosis, length and frequency of sessions.
Do you offer in-person sessions?
At this point, I do not have a physical office to be able to see clients in-person for session. I am happy to do phone or video appointments.
Tell me about attendance.
My expectation is that therapy is a priority - now, this doesn't mean you must have session four times a week, or even once a week! It means that when we're booked, you plan to come. If life happens, I understand, though there is a no-show and late cancel (cancelation within 24 hours) fee.

Three late cancels or no-shows within three months will likely result in discharge and referrals.
When are you available?
My schedule shifts, but generally I am available for session outside normal work hours.
Additionally, I am not a crisis resource - if you message or contact me, it may take me a few days to respond.

In an effort to avoid burnout, I take vacation and time away too. During these periods, my email and phone is not checked regularily.
"There is no standard for normal. Normal is subjective. There are seven billion versions of normal on this planet."
