About

About Me

Welcome to Wellspring, I'm Shannon! I am a counselor, licensed in Wisconsin (LPC) and Iowa (LMHC), and work primarily with couples and individuals interested in working through trauma, anxiety, grief and life transitions.

I operate from a neuro-somatic (mind and body) framework and work to create a safe environment for all identities for healing. I'm passionate about tailoring therapy to each client’s needs and desires, often opting to utilize non-traditional psychotherapies to engage all parts of the body and mind. This means that I aim to create a therapy space that is collaborative, client-centered, justice-focused and trauma-sensitive.

I have formal training in eye-movement desensitization (EMDR), animal-assisted psychotherapy (AAP), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Developmental Needs Meeting Strategy (DNMS), expressive interventions in therapy and more.

At a human level, I have too many animals, love reading, quilting and traveling, whether alone or with others. I'm excited to meet you!

Services & Speciality

Every therapist is different, which is good because every person is different! I begin at a polyvagal/whole-self position before moving into thought-changing work (we call this "bottom-up" therapy). I use a combination of modalities such as EMDR, CBT, DBT, Parts Work, Compassionate Mind, and more to fit therapy to YOU.

Though I consider myself more of a generalist therapist, I have the most training, experience, and passion for trauma, grief, and life-transition work.
